“Kemurimi Kōro” คือกระถางธูปที่ได้รับการออกแบบและสร้างขึ้นเพื่อเป็นภาชนะสำหรับการชมควัน
ผลงานชิ้นนี้นำเสนอการตีความธูปใหม่ นอกเหนือจากบทบาทดั้งเดิมในฐานะแหล่งกำเนิดกลิ่น เชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมมองควันราวกับเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิต และเฝ้าสังเกตการเปลี่ยนแปลงของรูปทรงที่เกิดขึ้น
ภายใน “Kemurimi Kōro” ควันที่ลอยขึ้นจะค่อย ๆ ชะลอและเคลื่อนไหวอย่างแผ่วเบา เผยให้เห็นการเคลื่อนไหวและรูปทรงอันละเอียดอ่อน เมื่อธูปค่อย ๆ เผาไหม้และเลือนหายไปในที่สุด กระบวนการนี้ชวนให้นึกถึงการดำเนินไปของชีวิต ตั้งแต่การเกิดจนถึงความตาย
ภูมิทัศน์ของควันแต่ละครั้งเกิดขึ้นจากปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกระถางธูป ความมืด บรรยากาศของสถานที่ ธรรมชาติ และผู้คนที่มารวมตัวกัน ณ ช่วงเวลาและพื้นที่นั้น ๆ เมื่อเราค่อย ๆ เฝ้ามองอย่างช้า ๆ และตั้งใจ องค์ประกอบต่าง ๆ ที่รายล้อมอยู่ก็จะค่อย ๆ ปรากฏให้รับรู้

On Saturday, 5 September, and Sunday, 6 September 2026, audiences are invited to step away from the noise of everyday life and enter a slower, more contemplative atmosphere through the special programme “Kemurimi Kōro” an incense burner for viewing smoke by Baku Ochi.
An incense burner for viewing smoke, a ceremonial session grounded in the philosophy of Endō
“Kemurimi Kōro” is an incense burner conceived and crafted as a vessel for viewing
smoke. Reinterpreting incense beyond its traditional role as a source of fragrance,
it invites viewers to perceive smoke as a living being and to contemplate its
changing forms.
Within the “Kemurimi Kōro”, the rising smoke slows and drifts gently, revealing
graceful movements and delicate shapes. As the incense burns and eventually
fades away, it evokes the passage of life itself, from birth to death.
Each smoke landscape emerges through the interplay of the incense burner,
darkness, the atmosphere of the land, nature, and the people gathered in that
particular time and place. By observing slowly and attentively, the presence of
these surrounding elements quietly comes into view.
Through the beauty of smoke, Endō seeks to cultivate a way of appreciating
wholeness and the unfolding of time.
