Kanoknuch Sillapawisawakul Thai, b. 1983
Kanoknuch Silpawisawakul (DEXEMBELL) is a Thai artist, designer, and educator whose practice is rooted in experimentation across materials, forms, and sensory experiences. Her work explores the possibilities of art-making through an open-ended process of observing, testing, and transforming everyday materials.
Her recent practice turns toward sound through paper, exploring how a material traditionally associated with image and graphic communication can become a medium for sound, movement, and spatial experience. This ongoing experimentation reflects her interest in expanding the language of paper beyond its conventional boundaries.
Alongside her artistic practice, Kanoknuch has played an active role in Thailand’s creative and design ecosystem for over two decades. She is the founder of DEXEMBELL and Wrap It Workshop, and co-founder of Rice Union, PRACTICAL School of Design, and PRACTICAL Design Studio. She is also the initiator of Bangkok Illustration Fair (BKKIF) and has extensive experience in curating exhibitions and developing creative communities across Thailand and Asia.
She holds an MA in Cultural Management from Chulalongkorn University and has received recognition including Designer of the Year 2015 (Emerging Graphic Design), Cannes Lions Bronze, and London International Awards Gold.
