Within The Loop: Ruj Greigarn

Within The Loop is a painting project that examines how humans encounter the space of painting and how perception shifts through time. The artist approaches painting as a continuous loop of making, where repetitive acts allow visual elements to operate autonomously and reveal their self-defining nature. Rather than imposing meaning, the work opens a shared perceptual space in which viewers participate through their own experiences. Meaning remains unresolved and continuously deferred, emerging through repetition, perception, and the temporal relationship between artist and viewer.

Within The Loop เป็นผลงานจิตรกรรมที่สำรวจการเผชิญหน้าระหว่างมนุษย์กับพื้นที่ของภาพวาด และการแปรเปลี่ยนของการรับรู้ภายใต้เงื่อนไขของกาลเวลา ศิลปินมองการวาดภาพเป็นวงจรต่อเนื่องของการสร้าง ผ่านการกระทำซ้ำ ๆ ที่เปิดให้ร่องรอยและองค์ประกอบทางภาพทำงานอย่างอิสระ โดยไม่กำหนดความหมายตายตัว ผลงานเชื้อเชิญให้ผู้ชมมีส่วนร่วมผ่านประสบการณ์ส่วนบุคคล ในพื้นที่การรับรู้ร่วมกันซึ่งความหมายยังคงถูกเลื่อนออกไปและแปรเปลี่ยนอยู่เสมอ

PROJECT STATEMENT

This project started with my personal curiosity about how humans encounter the space of painting and how they perceive different experiences over time. The artist is not the creator, but simply another factor in the loop of making, while spectators remain within a cycle of perception in which experience shifts in relation to time. At this point, my intention is to challenge my act of mark-making through the viewer’s perception, allowing difference to emerge within the paradox of the visual perceived and internalized, of interpretation, and non-interpretation. 

My practice begins with making paintings through repetitive acts. Following this process, visual elements operate autonomously, revealing their self-defining nature. What emerges is a systemic appearance—sometimes manifesting as patterns—formed through a choice of emergent effects, rather than an imposed significance, through the continuity of making. 

The paintings reveal nothing beyond the repetitive act of making itself, opening a space for viewer perceptions regarding their personal experience. My painting does not impose ideas or interpretations, but invites subjective participation in the process that creates them. It records a state of being present within the loop of making, where meaning is never resolved but continuously deferred. Painting is a mysterious shared space to look at—one that resists fixed interpretation and operates as a mind game in which difference is produced through repetition, perception, and experience. 

Infinite possibilities of image-making emerge non-linearly through repetition that breaks the loop of making, and also through the counter-spatial relation between artist and viewer, where difference is generated beyond representation and interpretation.

ผลงานชุดนี้เกิดจากความสงสัยส่วนตัวเกี่ยวกับวิธีที่มนุษย์เผชิญหน้ากับพื้นที่ของจิตรกรรม และการรับรู้ประสบการณ์ที่แตกต่างกันไปภายใต้เงื่อนไขของกาลเวลา ศิลปินมิได้ทำหน้าที่ในฐานะผู้สร้าง หากแต่เป็นเพียงตัวแปรหรือปัจจัยหนึ่งที่ดำรงอยู่ภายในวงจรของกระบวนการสร้างงานศิลปะ ในขณะที่ผู้ชมเองก็ยังคงอยู่ภายในวงจรของการรับรู้ ซึ่งประสบการณ์สามารถเคลื่อนไหวและแปรเปลี่ยนไปตามความสัมพันธ์ของเงื่อนไขแห่งเวลา ณ จุดนี้ ข้าพเจ้ามุ่งทดลองและท้าทายการรับรู้ของผู้ชมผ่านการสร้างร่องรอยบนผลงานจิตรกรรม เพื่อเปิดให้ความแตกต่างทางประสบการณ์ปรากฏขึ้นบนพื้นฐานของสภาวะอันซับซ้อนระหว่างสิ่งที่สามารถรับรู้ได้ผ่านภาษาภาพ กับสิ่งที่ถูกรับรู้ภายใน ระหว่างการตีความและการไม่ตีความ

ข้าพเจ้าสร้างงานจิตรกรรมผ่านการกระทำซ้ำๆ โดยภายใต้กระบวนการดังกล่าว ร่องรอยที่ปรากฎอยู่บนผืนผ้าใบทำงานอย่างอิสระ เผยให้เห็นธรรมชาติที่กำหนดเองโดยไม่ได้พึ่งพาเจตนาของผู้สร้างเเต่อย่างใด สิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นเเละดูคล้ายเป็นโครงสร้างเชิงระบบ บางครั้งเป็นรูปเเบบเเต่ไม่ตายตัวอันเป็นผลพวงจากความต่อเนื่องของกระบวนการทำซ้ำที่ไม่ได้กำหนดล่วงหน้า ผลงานจิตรกรรมไม่ได้พูดสิ่งใดนอกเหนือไปจากกระบวนการที่ทำให้ตัวของมันอุบัติขึ้น เเละเปิดพื้นที่ให้ผู้ชมเปลี่ยนเเปรสภาพของตัวมันโดยเชื่อมโยงกับประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว ในความคิดเห็นของข้าพเจ้า ร่องรอยต่างๆนั้นบันทึกสภาวะของการดำรงอยู่ในห้วงขณะของวงจรการสร้างงานซึ่งความหมายไม่เคยถูกทำให้สิ้นสุด เเต่กำลังต่อเนื่องเเละถูกทำให้เเตกต่าง ตัวผลงานจิตรกรรมจึงเป็นพื้นที่ลี้ลับที่ความหมายไม่ตายตัวเเละผู้ชมมีส่วนสร้างมันผ่านการเปลี่ยนเเปลงของเวลา อีกทั้งยังทำงานในลักษณะบททดสอบทางความคิดซึ่งความเเตกต่างถูกผลิตขึ้นผ่านการทำซ้ำ การรับรู้ เเละ ประสบการณ์ ที่มีลักษณะคู่ขนานของทั้งศิลปินเเละผู้ชม

ความเป็นไปได้อย่างไม่มีขีดจำกัดของการสร้างภาพเกิดขึ้นในลักษณะที่ไม่เป็นลำดับเเบบเส้นตรง หากเเต่ผ่านการทำซ้ำซึ่งก่อให้เกิดการหลุดออกจากวงจรของการสร้างงาน และผ่านความสัมพันธ์เชิงพื้นที่ที่ถ่วงดุลกันระหว่างศิลปินและผู้ชม ซึ่งความแตกต่างถูกก่อให้เกิดขึ้นนอกเหนือจากการแทนความหมายและการตีความ

ARTIST STATEMENT

The transition of moments in which absence and presence coexist within a non-linear connection underlies my interest in how humans interact with space and how experience transforms over time. Within the reflective relation between artist and spectator, interpretation operates without fixed boundaries, positioning the artwork as a shared space for open exploration. 

Each artwork, in some way, is unintentionally a reproduction of a previous work, forming a cycle of image-making within a loop of existence. Within this process, there is no permanent self, only ongoing transformation through developing repetition. Origins are not solely located in the past but persist in the present, while the future unfolds through repetition with difference. My practice investigates repetition as a condition that reshapes visual language, challenging the expectation of fixed meaning in art. I treat artworks as a ground of multiple activities, operating through repetitive connections rather than linear progression. 

I regard my artworks not as objects, but as events that operate through subjective experience. My intention is to engage through repetition with the infinite possibilities of image-making. Within the space of artworks, forces operate beyond the artist’s control—particularly in relation to interpretation—allowing meaning to remain open, contingent, and unresolved through the experience of both artist and viewer.

ข้าพเจ้าสนใจการเปลี่ยนผ่านของห้วงเวลา ซึ่งสภาวะของการอยู่และการหายไปของสิ่งที่มองเห็นและมองไม่เห็นดำรงอยู่ร่วมกันและสัมพันธ์กันโดยมิได้เป็นไปตามลำดับเส้นตรง ความสนใจนี้เชื่อมโยงกับปฏิสัมพันธ์ของมนุษย์ที่มีต่อพื้นที่ และการแปรเปลี่ยนของประสบการณ์ภายใต้เงื่อนไขของกาลเวลา

ผลงานศิลปะเเต่ละชิ้นในบางเเง่มุมคือการผลิตซ้ำของผลงานก่อนหน้าโดยมิได้ตั้งใจ ซึ่งก่อให้เกิดกระบวนการสร้างภาพภายเป็นวงจรในวงจรของการดำรงอยู่ ภายในกระบวนการนี้ไม่มีอะไรที่ถาวรหรือเเม้มีตัวตนหากเเต่ขึ้นอยู่กับการเเปรเปลี่ยนอย่างต่อเนื่องผ่านการทำซ้ำที่ค่อยๆ เกิดเป็นการพัฒนาขึ้น ความเป็นเหง้าไม่ได้อยู่เฉพาะในอดีต เเต่ตั้งอยู่ในปัจจุบันเช่นกัน ในขณะที่อนาคตคลี่คลายออกผ่านกระบวนการทำซ้ำพร้อมความเเตกต่าง ข้าพเจ้าสนใจในการศึกษาเเละทดลองกับการทำซ้ำในฐานะเงื่อนไขที่ปรับเปลี่ยนภาษาภาพ พร้อมทั้งท้าทายการตีความหมายที่ตายตัวในงานศิลปะ อีกทั้งยังมองผลงานศิลปะในฐานะพื้นที่รองรับของกิจกรรมที่มีความหลากหลาย ซึ่งทำงานผ่านความเชื่อมโยงเชิงการทำซ้ำจนเกิดการเปลี่ยนเเปลง มากกว่าการดำเนินไปตามลำดับแบบเส้นตรง

ข้าพเจ้ามองผลงานศิลปะไม่ใช่ในสถานะเป็นวัตถุเเต่เป็นเหตุการณ์ที่ทำงานผ่านประสบการณ์เชิงอัตวิสัย ความตั้งใจของข้าพเจ้าคือการมีส่วนร่วมกับความเป็นไปได้ที่ไม่มีขีดจำกัดของวิธีการสร้างภาพผ่านกระบวนการทำซ้ำ พลังงานเเละปัจจัยต่างๆที่อยู่ในผลงานศิลปะดำรงอยู่เป็นไปนอกเหนือการควบคุมของศิลปิน โดยเฉพาะในมิติของการตีความที่สภาวะของความหมายถูกเปิดไว้เเละไม่มีขอบเขตผ่านประสบการณ์ร่วมของทั้งผู้ชมเเละศิลปิน
