Aesthetic of Conservation Exhibition showcases a collective process of art conservation, displaying techniques and methods of art restoration through visual narratives that not only show ‘How?’ but also touch on the ‘Why’? To let the viewers understand the practice of art conservation, with an aspect of countries’ tropical climates taken into context. This exhibition aims to acknowledge the importance of the protection, preservation and restoration of art pieces by creating opportunities for the art of collection and for future generations.
Through different art pieces made up of different art mediums —painting, fabric pieces, paper canvas, photography etc. The artworks will go through contemporary techniques of conservation which some will be put on the exhibition display to illustrate the current findings around the topics which include the cause and the long term effects of art preservation. The artwork will be shown in two parts, one with the methods of conservation applied and the other without, distinguishing the original ppearance in comparison with the conserved appearance. This allows the viewers to understand the entire procedure taken towards art conservation.
Bangkok Art Conservation Center aims to be a part of conserving force to treasure world’s art heritage for all mankind. We are determined in providing conservation, maintenance and restoration service towards object d’art belonging to both private and public collections by academic approaches based on international standard. Our conservation center, too, has the will to strengthen cooperation between the center and educational institutions or other conservation organizations in all artistic purposes: aesthetics, history, archaeology, and beyond in hopes to the expansion of ideas and knowledge exchange by international integrating approaches in order to continuously develop the potential of the conservation of Thai art for the sake of public society.
นิทรรศการ “Aesthetic of Conservation” นำเสนอชุดผลงานที่ผ่านกระบวนการการอนุรักษ์งานศิลปะมาจัดแสดงให้เห็นถึงกระบวนการอนุรักษ์ ซ่อมแซม ผ่านการเทียบแสดงให้เห็นถึงกระบวนการ เบื้องหน้าและเบื้องหลังงานอนุรักษ์ศิลปะ เพื่อให้ผู้ชมได้เข้าใจศาสตร์แขนงนี้มากยิ่งขึ้น โดยเฉพาะในบริบทของภูมิประเทศเขตอากาศร้อนชื้น และเพิ่มความรู้ความเข้าใจ ในการป้องกัน การดูแล การอนุรักษ์ ได้อย่างเหมาะสม และสุนทรีย์ในการสะสมและส่งต่อ
บอกเล่าผ่านการเฟ้นหาผลงานศิลปะที่มีการสร้างสรรค์ต่างกัน เช่น งานเพ้นท์ งานผ้า งานกระดาษ ภาพถ่าย เป็นต้น และนำชิ้นงานเหล่านั้นมาผ่านกระบวนการอนุรักษ์ บางส่วน และนำมาจัดแสดงพร้อมการให้ความรู้ ทั้งสาเหตุ และการป้องกัน ชิ้นงานที่สำเร็จ จะเผยให้เห็นทั้งส่วนที่ก่อนได้รับการอนุรักษ์ ไปพร้อมๆกับพื้นที่หรือบริเวณที่ได้รับการอนุรักษ์แล้วให้ผู้รับชมได้เห็นกระบวนการสร้าง กระบวนการฟื้นฟู อนุรักษ์ และเกิดความเข้าใจผ่านการรับชมผลงานชิ้นนั้นๆในฐานะผลงานศิลปะอีกชิ้นหนึ่ง
Bangkok Art Conservation Center มีปณิธานส่งเสริมให้งานด้านอนุรักษ์เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของเครื่องมือในการรักษาสมบัติ และศิลปวัตถุ ของมวลมนุษยชาติ มุ่งมั่นให้บริการด้านการอนุรักษ์ บำรุงรักษา ซ่อมแซมและฟื้นฟูศิลปกรรม ผลงานสะสมส่วนบุคคล และองค์กรตามหลักวิชาการ ด้วยมาตรฐานระดับสากล และเสริมสร้าง ความร่วมมือด้านการอนุรักษ์กับสถาบันการศึกษาและองค์กรด้านการอนุรักษ์และซ่อมแซมศิลปกรรม นานาชาติ ทั้งในด้านศิลปะ สุนทรียศาสตร์ ประวัติศาสตร์และโบราณคดี อันจะนำไปสู่การแตกแขนงของความคิด และการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ในรูปแบบของการบูรณาการในระดับนานาชาติ เพื่อพัฒนาศักยภาพด้านการอนุรักษ์ศิลปกรรมของประเทศไทยไปสู่สังคมสืบไป
