Baku Ochi 大地漠 Japanese, b. 1994

Biography

Born in Akita City in 1994 and currently based in Tōno, Iwate, Japan. After completing a master's degree at Shinshu University, he began creating Endō, an interdisciplinary art practice and smoke-based installation art. Beyond exhibitions, he has proposed Endō as a broader artistic concept and continues to organize gatherings and experiences across Japan.

Statement

He explores the meanings of “fūzei”, the uniquely Japanese sense of atmosphere and beauty, and seeks ways of living that nurture such sensibilities. His work focuses on the overlooked forms of nature that surround us in everyday life, creating experiences that invite people to pause, rediscover their beauty, and appreciate them anew. Through his practice, he aims to reconnect people with nature and cultivate ways of living in which human sensitivity and perception can flourish.
