Ratchawoot Kuruwongwattana Thai, b. 1993
Ratchawoot Kuruwongwattana is Thai artist as known as Kon to Mor. His previous works represent the beauty value of lustrous color from Thai architecture conveyed to shape and pattern from the tiles and color glasses. Those have been painted by the pigment droplets as they show a pile of color drops that represent an expeditious yet powerful movement. The pattern of this droplets spouts from the origin and spreads to all over places which symbolizes the growth in every aspect and in the same time, that later on will lead to an equal and sustainable cohabitation. It is to adapt a traditional Thai intellect to improve a creativity by relying on a new visual elements and a unique technique to create a pattern of colors connected to Buddhism ideals, as Cosmology, combined in several cultures.
The development of glittering, bright, and colorful glass painting colors indicates an innovation in chemical science. A color which has the pattern similar to glass truly impresses me in term of the technique. I later studied deeper and experienced on the it until I eventually discovered the stable technique by using the traditional ingredient such as white clay filler (Din Sor Phong) mixed with glue as a base, then I dropped glass painting color, a naturally free movement color (if not be controlled), on it. The mentioned characteristics unveil the value and identity from using color as a “tool” or “medium” to be “contexts” and “matter” of works.
In 2022, He have been experiencing new color pairs to flow along with the current exhibition. It focuses on earth, stars, state, diversity, rapid change of earth and disease in present, happiness, sadness, and hope. Those are the result from our head thus the exhibition is the products coming from those experiences.
